As a thank you to my blog and podcast supporters, I want you to be the first to have access to my upcoming book, “Uniquely You,” available for pre-order now. Here’s your look at the twelfth chapter…
Part I: Surround Yourself With Support
My grandfather, who went a long way in raising me, reminded me every time I walked out the door that “stupid sticks.” He was telling me not to surround myself with people I knew were going to be bad influences, and he was right. The people with whom you surround yourself in many ways forge who you are and determine where you go. Jim Rohn hit it dead on: “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
Part II: Who Is on Your Personal Board of Directors?
In our leadership, we need to avoid people who drag us off course or backward. Instead, surround yourself with people you admire, who know what you don’t and who’ve experienced what you haven’t. Great leaders also have a personal board of directors—filled with accountability partners who provide honest feedback and have no entangling interests. They’re motivated by their love, respect and support for you as a leader.
Many professionals grow exhausted and disenchanted from chasing business gurus and quick-fix formulas. Rather than becoming knock-offs, we must learn to listen to the leadership lessons our lives have been trying to teach us. In “Uniquely You,” coming in May 2019, I will share my personal journey, and how it led me to lead uniquely, with you. Preorder your copy today!
